 Environment
Policy OBJECTIVES
Building Partnerships Limited has environmental concerns
at the heart of its business. The organisation will therefore,
through all its staff, take responsibility for the environmental
impacts of our business.
Global warming is accepted as the detrimental impact
of mankind’s production of greenhouse gases that
are elevating levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
In the last 15 years this has resulted in increases of
30% which are mainly as a result of the burning of fossil
fuels and deforestation.
Climate change and development
is affecting wildlife and habitants. Positive management
and environmental
issues will be considered wherever appropriate
to sustain bio-diversity and increase habitat diversity.
Building
Partnerships addresses environmental matters in their
business under two main areas:
DEVELOPMENT
Building Partnerships
Limited are committed to improving our environmental
performance in developments through assessing
environmental impact.
In undertaking our operations, Building Partnerships
will: - Ensure that the procurement of buildings in development
or refurbishment will take account of environmental
impact in terms of design materials and construction.
- Consider developments in terms of its impact on flora
and fauna.
- Consider the visual impact on the landscape including
light pollution.
- Comply with statutory and regulatory environmental
requirements.
- Promote awareness of managing the environment on completion
of any scheme.
- Seek in development or refurbishment to investigate
the efficient use of energy resources including considering
natural resources and/or non-renewable resources.
OFFICE
In order for environmental issues to be sustainable,
companies through their Board of Directors and staff
need to take responsiblity for the environmental
impacts of their business. Building Partnerships
will strive to achieve this by:
- Selecting suppliers and services for our offices and equipment, that reflect environmental issues.
- Seeking to reduce our production of waste and, wherever practical, to recycle
materials.
- Heating the office mainly using fuel that comes from renewable resources.
- Travelling especially on long journeys by rail wherever this is a practical alternative to the car.
