Planning granted for barn redevelopment
The Street, Brundall
Planning
permission has been granted for redevelopment
of a former barn in the centre of Brundall
into single bed apartments.
In common with many villages in Norfolk there is a shortage of accommodation
for local young people. Building Partnerships designed the scheme to fulfil the
local need and help first time buyers entering the housing market.
Chris Marsden said “achieving planning permission for conversion of the
building to single bedroom apartments is particularly pleasing. The scheme attracted
support from the Parish Council and the planning committee appreciated that the
development targeted the local need”.
The property comprises a former barn
in the centre of Brundall that was extensively
amended and extended in the 1970’s. The
site provides approximately 0.3 acres and has
facilities that include a swimming pool.
Building Partnerships submitted a planning application for conversion and extension
of the property to provide four one-bedroom apartments on the ground and first
floors with car parking to the rear. The application was submitted to Broadland
District Council with the support of the Parish Council. The scheme reflected
the needs of the local community and the local estate agents database showed
a demand of 48 applicants for this type of accommodation.
The planning application was formulated after negotiation with Broadland District
Council. Objections were received against the traffic generated from the scheme
and the limited visibility splay onto The Street.
Planning permission was granted by Broadland District Council planning committee
who appreciated that the development was designed to provide for the need in
Brundall.
Conversion
of the building is likely to be completed by Spring 2007.
