Policy
OBJECTIVES
Building Partnerships has environmental concerns at the heart of its business.
The organisation will through its staff, take responsibility for the environmental
impacts of our business.
Climate change and development is affecting wildlife and habitats. We will
positively contribute and manage environmental issues, on our developments.
We will, wherever appropriate, sustain bio-diversity and increase habitat
diversity.
Building Partnerships addresses environmental matters in their business
within two main areas:
DEVELOPMENT
Building Partnerships is committed to
improving our environmental performance in developments
through assessing environmental impact.
In undertaking our developments, Building Partnerships
will:
- Promote low carbon design to
aspire to Code for Sustainable Homes
level 6 and BREEAM "excellent" on
all our schemes.
- Prior to commencement on site,
ensure site specific environmental issues
are put in place that include, amongst
other things, working procedures, a waste
management plan, SUDS, and the minimisation
of ecological impacts due to works.
- Ensure that the procurement of
buildings for development or refurbishment
will take account of environmental impacts
in terms of design materials and construction.
- Consider developments in terms
of its impact on flora and fauna.
- Consider the visual impact on
the landscape including light pollution.
- Comply with statutory and regulatory
environmental requirements.
- Promote awareness of managing
the environment on completion of any
scheme.
- Investigate the efficient use
of energy resources including renewable
resources.
OFFICE
As a business we will:
- Monitor our performance and minimise adverse impacts of our
operations.
- Regularly assess our carbon footprint by continuous assessment.
- Continue to review our office equipment and invest in more
efficient replacements.
- Select suppliers and services for our offices, that take
account of environmental issues.
- Seek to reduce our production of waste and, wherever practical,
recycle materials.
- Select travel for long journeys by rail wherever practical.
